Pakistan Day

Pakistan Day is a public holiday which celebrates the 1940 Lahore Resolution as well as the adoption of Pakistan’s first constitution. Citizens from every Pakistani city, town and village celebrate this historical day in the Pakistani calendar.

Pakistan’s national flag is hoisted from many Governmental and public buildings as well as the Presidential Palace. In most of Pakistan’s provincial capitals visitors and locals alike will be able to enjoy a 21- gun salute while in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital – a 31-gun salute is fired.

At the famous mausoleums of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Muhammad Iqbal and the Supreme Leader – Quaid-i-Azam, daily changes of the guard take place on an hourly basis. It is a very interesting sight to see here in Pakistan.

Islamabad also hosts one of the biggest Pakistan Day parades, which takes place on Constitution Avenue. Another major Pakistan Day event, which is very popular with all Pakistani’s is an award ceremony that is hosted by the President of Pakistan - Asif Ali Zardari, where he awards military and civilian honours to people who have made a major contribution to the defence and safety of Pakistan among other things.

Attending parties, festivals and singing national songs are some of the best ways of celebrating Pakistan Day. It is also a time to spend with the family.
